Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, is a type of anxiety disorder caused by experiencing traumatic events involving threat of injury or death. Because of the nature of war, many veterans experience symptoms of ptsd after leaving the war zone. Symptoms can include: repeatedly “reliving” the event either in dreams or flashbacks during the day that disturb everyday activity; avoidance- of people, previously pleasurable activities, and feeling numb to emotions; arousal- trouble sleeping, outbursts of anger, irritability, excessively alertness, difficulty concentrating, and an exaggerated event to things that are startling. People who experience ptsd also occasionally feel guilt about the event although it was out of their control, and they may also experience fever, headaches, agitation, dizziness, and fainting.
